I think Hancock had the potential to be great but somehow just didn’t get there. It had Will Smith when that still meant something. It had Jason Batemen during his renaissance. And it had Charlize Theron as a seemingly random housewife but by that time in her career there was no chance she signed on for this type of movie just to play a bit character so you could spend your time thinking about how she was going to become a major plot point. The partner-god thing was at least an interesting wrinkle and the backstory gave Hancock some depth and explained his current state. I enjoyed the movie but it feels like it should have been better.
