Suggest adding to your no.4 “If you have to write user help files” as a reason for having test cases. Having a documented step-through is a big help to technical authors.

I know that mobile apps and other new software is supposed to be intuitive, and that various flavours of Agile stress streamlining documentation, but there are still a lot of complex legacy systems out there that real-world (and non-expert) users have to interact with.
