Drowning in a Sea of Information

Interesting commentary that identifies a growing problem and recommends a partial fix. In addition to taking time to unplug, we should approach information gathering with a purpose, rather than bombarding ourselves with whatever catches our attention at the moment. During our downtime, it’s useful to think about the areas we want to learn more about, develop an analytic framework that will help us understand the issue, then deliberately seek the specific information we need. This focused approach not only saves time but gives us a feeling of accomplishment rather than the empty, tired feeling that the ‘fear of missing out’ produces.
