DISABLED TOILET DOOR STOLEN FROM LOCH LOMOND PARK …. The authority for Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park has expressed its anger, claiming it will cost £1000 to replace. Cleaning staff notified the authorities on Thursday morning that the toilet door at the public facilities in Inveruglas, Argyll and Bute was missing. The park authority confirmed the toilets were locked overnight, cleaned several times throughout the day and are often inspected by passing National Park rangers. The news was shared on Facebook on Friday, stating: “Someone has stolen a toilet door from our visitor site at Inveruglas. And not just any toilet door, they’ve taken the accessible toilet door. “We know some of our facilities might be in need of some upgrading but this isn’t what we had in mind. “So as well as making it more difficult for people with disabilities to use our facilities, we also now have to spend money on a new door that could be better spent elsewhere.” A spokeswoman for the park authority said they are “appalled” at the theft itself, but even more so that it was stolen from an accessible toilet. “We were appalled to discover that someone had actually gone to the effort to steal the accessible toilet door at our site at Inveruglas,” a spokeswoman said. “Not only does this mean we have to spend additional funds replacing the door that could be put to better use elsewhere, it also makes it more difficult for people with disabilities to use our facilities. “We have already ordered a new door and hope to reopen the toilet as soon as possible but it is likely to remain closed for at least two weeks. “The male and female toilets are open at the site and there are accessible toilets at Tarbert and Crianlarich.” The authority has also appealed to anyone who was at Inveruglas and might have seen anything.

FRANZ FERDINAND TO HEADLINE EDINBURGH’S HOGMANAY FESTIVAL…. The indie band will be making their first appearance at the Concert in the Gardens. Around 10,000 tickets will go on sale for the show in Princes Street Gardens from Monday.
Since their hit single Take Me Out, Franz Ferdinand have headlined festivals the world over. Frontman Alex Kapranos said: “Hogmanay is the greatest party of the year and there is nowhere in the world like Scotland to celebrate it. “Just thinking about bringing in the bells in Edinburgh gets me excited. “It’s going to be some night.” Charlie Wood and Ed Bartlam, directors of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay, added: “We’re super excited with the line-up for the Concert in the Gardens at Edinburgh’s Hogmanay. It’s going to be quite a party.
“Franz Ferdinand has had a fantastic year with Always Ascending and, in this, their first appearance at Hogmanay, they’re our top choice to get the crowd going into the midnight moment. “Great support too from top Scottish talent Free Love and dancefloor and festival favourites Metronomy. “Edinburgh once more proves itself the best place to be for New Year.”

Kean McGeachie was last seen in Dalwhinnie in the Highlands on Saturday night. Officers reported he was found “safe and well” on Sunday night. METAL WORTH £300,000 STOLEN FROM INDUSTRIAL ESTATE…. The break-in at Dael Telecoms in the Brucefield Industry Park, Livingston, West Lothian, happened sometime between 5pm on Monday August 20 and 9am the following morning. Police believe the thieves will be planning to sell the metal as scrap, and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. The items stolen include I beams, tower bracing bars, full tower bolt kits, anti-climb equipment and latch-way systems. Detective constable Greig Muir from Livingston CID said: “We believe whoever was responsible for this theft will look to sell the metal on for scrap and as such would require either one large vehicle, or a number of vehicles. “As such, anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity around the Brucefield Industrial Estate on the evening of August 20, or morning of August 21, should contact police immediately.
“In addition, if you have any information that can help us identify and trace those responsible then please also get in touch.”
Anyone with information can contact Livingston CID on 101.

SUNDAY HERALD SHUTS AMID SALES DECLINE…. The Sunday Herald ceased publication on 2 September after 19 years.
The final 40-page souvenir edition hit the stands, prompting tributes from politicians, celebrities and other figures from Scottish public life. Among those lamenting the paper’s demise was actor Elaine C Smith, lawyer Aamer Anwar and the SNP’s Angus Robertson.
The paper, which is owned by Newsquest, is being replaced with two titles — The Herald on Sunday and Sunday National. The Sunday Herald became the first newspaper to publicly back a “Yes” vote in the Scottish independence referendum in 2014. However, despite seeing a brief circulation boost, it went on to see its sales slump, with the latest figures showing an 18% drop in print sales compared with 2017.

On that note I will say that I hope you have enjoyed the news from Scotland today,
