The Daily Tulip
Tuesday 11th October 2016
Good Morning Gentle Reader where ever you are on this little blue planet as we spin through space and time bound for I know not where… Having taken Bella for her early morning walk under a cloudless sky with billions and billions of stars twinkling like diamonds, and having read the news from around the world, I thought today we would have something different, something other than Trump and Clinton, than the disaster in Haiti, Brexit and Putin, because this morning I have had a belly full of it all and thought I would let my mind entertain you… So? You got a problem with that….?
Good Morning I’m Robert McAngus and this is The Daily Tulip…. Well it looks like the original migration of people out of Africa many thousands of years ago wasn’t all one way, it seems some left but didn’t like the cold so they came back .. It seems they didn’t like being out of Africa…As Scientists have sequenced DNA from a 4,500-year-old skull found in an Ethiopian cave, revealing new clues in the mystery of humans’ global migration…. The Mota Cave man boasts pure African DNA, meaning his ancestors never left the continent…. More modern African genomes show a mix of Eurasian ancestry, suggesting a huge backflow migration roughly 4,000 years ago. But scientists still have one bone to pick and that is deciphering exactly why 25 percent of the Eurasian population packed up and moved back to Africa…. As I said I think it was the cold….
Staying with Scientists for a moment, NASA’s Scientists Find Blue Skies and Ice on Pluto… Water is taking up space! This latest discovery comes just days after a historic announcement about H2O on Mars, (I wanted the little green men to be discovered) the U.S. space agency has revealed views of an almost Earth-like dwarf planet, with blue skies and frozen water. The “blue” images captured by the New Horizons spacecraft are really gray or red soot-like particles in the atmosphere called tholins, which reflect light in a distorting way, while the water is red. NASA now hopes to determine why exposed pockets of ice survive on certain patches of Pluto’s surface but not on others… I know this is off the wall so to speak, but I have always understood that Earth was hit by an unknown planet millions of years ago, resulting in the Moon, but what if, in fact it’s not so off the wall as Ancient Sumerian texts indicate that the Earth (“Tiamat”) was struck by a large planet, which moved it into its present orbit, and created the Moon and the Asteroid Belt… but what if this collision created Pluto at the same time??? Just a thought after all it is Tuesday…
Well keeping a Dorian Grey painting in the attic may not work for most of us, rather we should think about Sea anemones which are a common sight on many coastlines, and despite their brightly colored appearance it seems they may have a common ancestor with humans. What’s more, researchers are wondering whether the creatures could hold the secret to eternal life…. The wicked queen in the tale of Snow White is famous for her rhetorical question: “Mirror Mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?” But her dream of eternal youth is an elusive one — as the years roll by the human body slowly but surely shrinks, sags and droops (Think of all those tattoo’s in a few years!) as cells mutate and die… Hearing, mobility, mental agility, muscle and brain mass all decline…. Evidence of that is here on The Daily Tulip…Me! Once thought to be plants, sea anemones are soft bodied animals that attach themselves to rocks and coral reefs in shallow waters. Their tentacles inject venom into the small fish and shrimp that brush up against them and guide the paralyzed prey into the mouth — an opening that also functions as an anus (I know quite a few people whose ancestors are Sea Anemones!) “As far as we know, these are immortal animals,” says Dan Rokhsar, professor of genetics at the University of California, Berkeley. “They live a very long time — one was documented to have lived 100 years. They don’t have old age. They live forever and proliferate, just getting bigger.”…. If you cut off their tentacles, they grow new ones. Even if you cut off their mouths they grow new “heads.” As long as they are not poisoned or eaten, as is often the case, they seem to go on and on…. So expect to see in a Supermarket near you Sea Anemone cream… of course you will pay through the anus for this…………
And Finally… I read an article recently talking about India, but did you know that this extremely conservative country was once home to the world’s first sex treatise and the erotic art on display is perhaps more shocking now than when it was created…. India has been a particularly conservative country for the last few hundred years, influenced by the puritanism of several groups, including Islamic dynasties, British overlords and the country’s own Brahmin priestly caste…. But India was not always like this. Sexual norms were far more liberal before the 13th Century, giving equal importance to the secular and the spiritual…. Sex was taught as a subject in formal education, and Kamasutra, the world’s first sex treatise, was written in ancient India between the 4th Century BCE and the 2nd Century….. In fact, if you look closely, reminders of these more liberal times can be seen across the country. They’re literally carved in stone in the form of erotic motifs on the lower walls of the 13th Century Sun Temple at Konark in the east Indian state of Orissa. Nudity is prominent in the paintings and sculptures of heavenly maidens at Maharashtra’s Buddhist rock-cut monastic caves, Ajanta (2nd Century BCE) and Ellora (5th to 10th Centuries)…. So when you were young and your Mother caught you reading “The Kamasutra” if you had read The Daily Tulip first you could have told her that it’s not a dirty old book, it’s the world’s first Sex Treatise, she wouldn’t have been impressed, but at least you would have taught her something……
And on that note Gentle Reader it’s time to say “That’s the news.. so now you know!” it was something different, hope you enjoyed the change…
Our Tulips today are all growing in a field in Skagit Valley Nursery Washington and what a beautiful sight they are…..
A Sincere Thank You for your company Gentle Reader and Thank You for your likes and comments I love them and always try to reply, so please keep them coming, it’s always good fun, As is my custom, I will go and get myself another mug of “Colombian” Coffee and wish you a safe Tuesday the 11th October 2016 from my home on the southern coast of Spain, where the blue waters of the Alboran Sea washes the coast of Africa and Europe and the smell of the night blooming jasmine and Honeysuckle fills the air…and a crazy old guy and his dog Bella go out for a walk at 4:00am…on the streets of Estepona…
All good stuff….But remember it’s a dangerous world we live in just read the news….. Be safe out there…
