Good Morning Gentle Reader…. 90% humidity greats Bella and I at the door, and Boy! Is it sticky…. As our cousins across the pond say, “It’s the Dog Days of summer” and it certainly is, but we still go out, no matter if it rains, storms or the sunshine's, or even as in this case the humidity is thick enough to cut, just like the mail man, Bella’s walk will be done… band I know its hot, but I’n still having my coffee when I get back to the house….
THOUGHTFUL DOG OWNER BUILDS PUP A SPECIAL ROOM…. A caring dog owner built his beloved pet his own special room underneath the stairwell in his new home. Twitter user Al on Friday shared photos of the tiny dog-sized room beneath the stairs, complete with a bed and miniature photo frames along the walls. “My brother built his dog a separate room in his house!” he wrote.
The thoughtful owner David Maceo, told the Dodo, he decided to give his dog “Hennessy” his own room after he and his wife bought their first home together. Hennessy and the couple had previously shared a single bedroom in his mother’s house, and Maceo felt he owed the dog the extra space to call his own. “I felt kind of bad that we didn’t have a lot of space,” he said. “So when we moved I decided to give Hennessy his own room.” Maceo began the project by sticking a camera into the bottom of the staircase to see if there was enough space for Hennessy, he then cut a small hole in the wall and “went on from there.” He spent the next few weeks constructing the special space for his pampered pet, painting the walls and floors to match the rest of the house and hanging up some family photos. “There are pictures of him and his brother; he passed a year ago,” Maceo said. “On the other side, there’s a picture of him and a picture of me and my wife. There’s another picture of my father and mother.” Maceo worried Hennessy might not enjoy his new abode, but after being lured in with a treat it appeared to be love at first sight. “He loves it,” Maceo said. “He feels protected under the stairs. He finds it very comforting. It’s the perfect place for him.”
HUSKY RIDES IN LAWN CHAIR TIED TO BACK OF MOTOR SCOOTER…. A traveler on a Thailand road captured video of an unusual spectacle — a husky sitting in a lawn chair tied to the back of a motor scooter. Kitsana Kongsawat, 27, said she was on a road in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, earlier this month when she spotted the motor scooter rider with two huskies in tow.
The video shows one canine riding by the man’s feet, while the other lounges on a plastic lawn chair tied to the back of the vehicle.
“The dog’s in the VIP hot seat. It looks like he has the special chair just for him to travel comfortably,” the filmer wrote. “I hope he did not fall off. But they both looked like they were enjoying the ride.”
DOG HAS RELATEABLE REACTION TO MASSIVE SPIDER IN THE HOUSE…. A British woman shared video of the massive spider she caught in her bedroom — and the terrified reaction of her arachnophobic dog. Sam Watt posted a video to Facebook showing the gargantuan false widow spider she found scuttling across the ceiling of her bedroom.
“The dangers of being on your own!!!” Watt wrote. I do actually feel I deserve a prize for being so brave!!!!!!! It was on my ceiling!!!!!!”
Watt explains in the video that the spider had been on the ceiling in her bedroom. The footage shows the spider trapped under a glass while her dog, Tilli, whimpers while cowing behind a nearby table. “Tilli is currently hiding from the spider,” Watt says.
She said the dog was “not impressed” by the intruder. Watt said she eventually threw the spider outside after giving it a good “talking to.”
BROWSING DOG PUSHES SHOPPING CART AT CALIFORNIA GROCERY STORE…. Shoppers at a California grocery store captured video of a highly unusual sight: A dog on its hind legs casually pushing a shopping cart. A short video posted to Twitter by user @ashleen_ shows the German shepherd walking on its hind legs inside a store in Milpitas while pushing a cart next to a man wearing a backpack.
“I’m still shook,” she tweeted. A second video captured by @ariannacoria shows the dog continuing to push the cart until it slips and ends up on all fours.
DOG HAILED AS HERO AFTER DIGGING UP $85K WORTH OF HEROIN…. An Oregon sheriff’s office is honoring a family’s golden retriever for digging up $85,000 worth of black tar heroin in his owner’s back yard. The Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office said the dog, Kenyon, was digging in the back yard of his family’s home in early August when he unearthed an unusual object. The sheriff’s office said Kenyon’s owners, who wished to remain anonymous, initially thought the canine had exhumed a time capsule buried by the previous owners, so they video-taped themselves opening the package. The residents quickly determined the package’s contents were some sort of controlled substance, so they contacted the sheriff’s office, which identified the substance as more than 15 ounces of black tar heroin. Sheriff Tim Svenson bestowed Kenyon with an official Yamhill County K-9 citation ribbon and named him an honorary narcotics K-9 for life. “Opioid addiction and overdose deaths are on the rise and with the help of Kenyon this large quantity of heroin is removed from our community,” the sheriff said.
