Descriptive vs Intuitive Tarot Decks

What is what??

When people enroll intot the Mysterium #Philippines #Tarot program I usually get a question around the frequency of “Why do we need to use the Rider Waite Tarot” There are other decks that suit my needs and my preferences!!!

And quite frankly I’m inclined to agree with you since there are some AMAZING decks out there that we all can use for the better of our own personal #Tarot Expression..

However when it comes to LEARNING the tarot, especially if you have ZERO experience with the Tarot its best to start with something basic, and something that can help you grow at a professional Tarot consultant.

For starters, The reason in which we require the Rider Waite deck for our Tarot course is because is by far one of the best examples of what I call a DESCRIPTIVE deck? what do I mean by that???

A Descriptive Deck is any deck in which the meaning of the card can be seen within the Artwork itself! Hence the card itself DESCRIBES the meaning. If you look above the 2 of cups can be deduced to a meaning of a union of souls or even love life just by looking at what you see in the artwork

The problem is there are also what we call INTUITIVE Decks. These sort of decks either just have the reader resort to using their intuition or of not memorization in order to properly interpret the card. And as you could see above The card on your left although beautiful is a primary exmaple of what I could call a Decriptive deck. If you knew nothing about the Tarot and drew this card you would be pretty stummped as to what it could potentially mean and thus we dont recommend this for beginners.

Does this go to show that Intuitive Decks are bad?? NO WAY but they are usually not meant for those who have just begun their journey with the cards. If you are a fresh of the boat newcomer with the Tarot stick to Honoring A.E Waite and Pamela Coleman Smith and get yourself a Rider Waite Smith Tarot deck :) it’s sure to be one of the best Textbook decks on the tarot you can possible find!
