John McCain is a “G”

Gangster but in a good way! My hat goes off to Senator John McCain, who dropped the mic in the wee hours of the morning putting an end to the republicans attempt to repeal and replace the Affordable Healthcare Act (Obamacare) with a ridiculous alternative called the “Skinny” Obamacare repeal plan. If this bill had passed 16 million people would have lost their healthcare coverage, according to the Congressional Budget Office. McCain had the courage and conviction to do the right thing by casting the descending vote. Now, I’m not going to suggest that McCain, whose been diagnosed with brain cancer, and who recently had surgery, voted on the measure to proceed only to then vote against it because of his longstanding feud with Donald Trump. No, I believe he’s a decent man who’s much bigger than that, and who understood this exercise was nothing more than a futile attempt by a bunch of crusty old men to erase President Obama’s signature legislation, as Trump and his henchmen have promised for the last seven years, no bones about it!

It’s no secret that most republican lawmakers feel healthcare is not an inherent right, and if many of them had their way comprehensive coverage would not be made available to those who can’t afford it!

John McCain is not only brave to defy his party’s short sighted desire to repeal and replace but he’s also smart! His plea is now for republicans and democrats to work together and repair the issues that “Obamacare” has. Why, because it’s the law of the land, and regardless of how some may feel proper healthcare shouldn’t just be for the privileged. In this country, the values and morals we declare allegiance to should compel compassion and the belief that everyone should have access to quality healthcare!
