Sir, in order for me to accept your complaint that I am unfairly “generalizing” about feminists based on an “extreme” example, I would require that you offer a counter-example of a young feminist who is (a) as prominent as Ms. Penny, and (b) demonstrably less “extreme.” How many feminists books have you read lately? How many syllabi of university Women’s Studies courses have you examined? Until you have done as much research into contemporary feminism as I have, don’t presume to lecture me about whether any particular feminist is “extreme.” Your complaint raises the question, “extreme” compared to whom? Where are these moderate and reasonable feminists whose reputation I am accused of tarnishing because I have “generalized” from the example of Laurie Penny? Please, point them out to me! If there actually are any moderate feminists on the planet, they’ve been mighty quiet lately.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?
