I wonder to what extent the decline in abortions is due to other factors not mentioned in the article, including the passage of the large baby boom generation beyond its reproductive years, the effect of practicing safe sex in response to the threat of AIDS infection (which may also have prevented pregnancy as well) and the improvement in imaging of fetuses in the womb which enable mothers and fathers to see the similarity between their unborn fetus and other living human beings thus perhaps increasing the sense that killing it would be unjust.
