Richard Moll Was Our Favorite Bald Bailiff. But He Was Much More Than That.
Yesterday, we lost Richard Moll, an actor who passed away at the age of 80. Many of you would probably recognize him as the goofy yet lovable bald bailiff from Night Court. But Richard had a far greater acting legacy than that.
Over the years, he’s really racked up an impressive resume in the world of acting. One other notable role was his take on Harvey Dent/Two-Face in Batman: The Animated Series, giving that perfect blend of malice and heart to the role. Don’t believe me? Take a listen below.
Of course, he’s also appeared in a number of great movies over the years. In fact, across the 80s, he appeared in many iconic horror and sci-fi films. You may recognize him from the image above in The Dungeonmaster, which released in 1984. Check out the trailer below.
Oh, and he was the main bad guy in House, going head to head with William Katt as his fellow soldier Big Ben. And he underwent an interesting makeover in the process. (May want to watch the movie first before watching the clip.)
Gosh, there were so many others, too. He popped up in Night Train To Terror, The Sword and the Sorcerer, Loaded Weapon 1, Caveman, Jingle All the Way, The Flintstones (Hoagie!), and countless others. And a friend of mine recently reminded me of his role in But I’m a Cheerleader. Not sure if he appears in the trailer, but this gives you an idea of what to expect.
The bottom line is that Richard Moll was underrated. But the guy put his heart into his roles and earned a great following over the years. And he continued to do it through 2018 with smaller roles, continuing to hold his own. You can check out the rundown of his impressive movie and TV work here.
And, yes, Bull. I love Bull. Some people were wondering why he didn’t return for the new series, but maybe he just wanted to rest a bit after a career of so much work. That’s fine. We’ll always remember the great times he had in these roles, and the fun we got to have with him.
Rest in peace, Richard. Thanks for the great stuff, we’ll always appreciate it.
