What’s happening on TikTok? Here’s what you need to know

What exactly is happening on Tiktok?

The popular app is known for hosting short videos where everyone can often dance or lip-sync to viral audio clips.

However, in recent days Trump has talked about banning Tiktok from the United States. Frightening millions of people who use the app. During the discussion of banning the app, there have some been reports that Microsoft or other companies might buy the app.

So what now?

It all began with two factors:

First is that TikTok is owned by a Chinese internet company, ByteDance.

Second is that China is increasingly in the sights of the Trump administration.

Officials in Washington are highly concerned that the Chinese Government could get access to information about Americans who use TikTok due to it is owned by a Chinese.

In any circumstance, the tensions have now boiled over. On Friday night, President Trump states that he planned to ban the app, possibly through an executive order.

However, TikTok’s owner is said to be trying to address the administration’s concerns by pledging to sell the app’s U.S. operations.
