Make Plans to Spend Time With Friends

We all get busy. I get busy and I’m sort of an introvert. I lose touch with friends who I actually miss, but I want to fix that. I spent some time with a friend I hadn’t seen in a while last night only because he knows how scattered I can be and he followed up with setting a date and time. After a long day I generally like to go straight home, but if I have plans I tend to follow through which turns into a great night almost every time. It was just dinner and talking, but it felt great to get out of the routine of going straight home. Changing your routine in even simple tasks like taking an alternate way home increases cognitive function and, for me anyway, make me more alert and mindful in my driving. In meeting with different friends I get to mentally exercise with intelligent discussion and ideas not to mention simply catching up with a friend’s life which makes me happy. I’m sad to say I’ve lost touch with a couple of friends that I’d like to reconnect with so I’m making a list and making plans with them today!

Break the routine! Make plans and reconnect with someone you care about. I’m certainly going to do it more often.

Tis the privilege of friendship to talk nonsense, and to have her nonsense respected. – Charles Lamb
