My Comments on Your Work — DO NOT BE DISMAYED

Because I’m trying a new summer reading assignment this year — asking you to complete and submit work prior to the beginning of the school year — you are at a slight disadvantage vis-à-vis my comments.

You most likely don’t know my personality or my style of response, so my comments/responses may seem harsh, or curt, or even negative. Please understand that my goal is ALWAYS to help you become a better reader, writer, and thinker. Please, then, don’t take offense, or be embarrassed, or worry that I think you’re an idiot. I don’t. I promise!

If you know someone who has taken AP English Language and Composition with me, ask them about my style of commenting/grading. (Last year’s students: you can feel free to add comments to this post as well to reinforce my sentiments.)
