How to set up Favro once your team grows

Favro enables teams to work in their own space using whatever methodology suits them, be it SCRUM, Kanban, scheduling or something custom made. Once your team grows though, it is also easy to maintain structure and control over your organization.

Make team members automatically join your organization

Authenticate with Google or the SAML solution of your choice

When you are ready to roll out Favro to all team members in your company, you don’t want to invite one person at a time. Luckily, you can set up your organization to allow anyone within your domain to join automatically once they sign up to Favro.

Welcome new members by setting a starting collection

Make sure your new team members are properly onboarded by setting up a starting collection

No matter whether your team members join automatically or by invite, you can set a starting collection to give them a proper onboarding. This is a perfect opportunity to share some best practices, guidelines and other useful information.

Stay in control

In the above image you may have noticed that there are some permissions settings for your members. These control whether or not your members can:

  • invite guests to their collections
  • make collections public
  • and add integrations to backlogs and boards

If we navigate to the above tab, Tags, we get access to two additional settings specific to tag management.

Set permissions for tag creation and deletion

I recommend keeping at least tag deletion checked to avoid situations in which a tag that you use for reports accidentally gets deleted by someone.

All of the above have been on an organization level but there is a permission setting for your individual collections as well that is really useful when your team grows.

In ‘Manage members’ in a collection’s menu, you can access additional settings

If you navigate to a collection and access Manage members (which you can find by clicking the collection name), you can set whether collection members can create and re-order boards and backlogs. If you have strictly defined processes and an order to your backlogs and boards, it is recommended to uncheck this. By doing so, only collection owners can create and re-order boards and backlogs.

Wrapping things up

If you follow the suggestions above, new team members will feel welcome and your organization will scale naturally. That being said, every organization is different and Favro enables teams and teams of teams to work in their unique way. Let us know how you have set up your organization to scale and join the discussions in the Favro Slack Community
