What is missing in your prediction is that next generation of storage techs like 3D-XPoint or another non-volatile memory system. Storage is moving closer to the CPU because we all know CPUs are not scaling up vertically, and the next big bottleneck is data transfer for a multi-core system. What’s going to happen is we will have some 500G-1TB high-speed memory as some L3-L4 cache around a CPU core or group of cores. Your average laptop CPUs will be having 100s of cores. In 10 years you will still be asking where is my one petabyte SSD because no one will care for one.
