Actually when I visited the US and went to a supermarket in an not so affluent neighbourhood, to put it midly, I did find out that ‘real food’ the kind you actually have to peel, wash or chop to use to cook from scratch, is a privilege reserved for certain neighbourhooda. Apparently it is possible to can everything and anything and sell as food, stuff that is actually plastic or kind of put together from odds and ends. But only in certain neighbourhoods.
