Monstrous Births

Is it that you went through childbirth just to be able to say you had experienced it? It definitely does not sound like you wished to have children. Or maybe you were misled into thinking it would be a painless experience. I had an epidural the first time and refused one the next. I wanted to be there. You do have a choice not to experience it. If others feel it is empowering why not let them be? I wouldn’t choose that word but if I were to do it again I would want the blood, pain and gore. One can be a feminist and be comfortable with taking power from acts that are the sole preserve of women. I think it is to be applauded being willing to step forward each time to face a potential death sentence. Of course like other things, too much choice tarnishes the amazement…too bad.
