There are a lot of points, not just this one, that are off. Who is this “we” sending young men off to war? The old men, the fathers (as Grace Paley so poignantly put it in a poem published by the New Yorker). And don’t get me started on the fact that men don’t take care of their bodies or go to the doctor till it’s too late. Whose fault is that? But this one is the most absurd: put that daydream that America would’ve cared about Lesbians dying right next to the one that Bernie Sanders could’ve won the general: smack dab under not reality.
