When you write a new piece for Medium, you see the words “Tell Your Story.” Believe me when I say I want to tell you my story, even though it’s not quite finished yet. I have shared details of the story with close friends, and my Facebook community knows the bones of it. I like to tell stories, real stories. At one point in my life, my fiercest desire was to be a memoirist, like Mary Karr, Chris Offut, Rick Bragg, or Kathleen Norris. In my more delusional moments, I looked to David Sedaris and Augusten Burroughs for inspiration. Like all these writers, I wanted to tell my story beautifully and with humor…
