Do something out of the ordinary.

I work at littleBits and part of our bitiversary program is receiving X amount every year to take any course for personal or professional growth using Course Horse.

One day, my good friend Lev (aka Lev da motherfuckin’ Dev) mentioned he had a performance coming up and was seeing if I’d be able to go check it out.

I’m confused. What performance? Is he doing something with bananas?

He explains to me that he has been attending an improv class for the past few weeks and they have a performance coming up this Wednesday.

Lev in a nutshell: full stack developer at littleBits, reserved, talented, makes silent witty remarks, shy, secret rockstar.

I’m shocked and super excited that I shriek and say “OMG. No way! That’s amazing! I’ll be there for sure!” At this point Lev’s getting a little uncomfortable because I’m being kind of loud haha. In my defense though, I really was excited that he was sharing this with me!

Anyways, I’m curious as to how he chose to take an improv class. He tells me that one day he was talking to his uncle and his uncle suggested to take a theater class of some sort to improve upon his social skills. Lev being the incredibly brave person he is, decided to just go for it. So fucking cool and inspirational.

Close to the end of the conversation, I pick up on a subtle hint that Lev would like other bitsters to come so I ask him if he would like me to invite some other people. In typical Lev style, he shrugs, plays it off like it’s no big deal and says “I mean…yeah.. that’d be cool.” I smile.

Fast forward and it’s Lev’s big debut! I round up some troops and we go to his show. Lev fucking crushes it. His joke are hilarious and the audience is dying. It’s in that moment when Lev fully realizes he’s a badass that should be more confident because there’s absolutely no reason not to.
