All Trail app:

PART ONE

Heuristic Evaluation

Through these two pictures of All Trails App, the aesthetic and minimalistic design- heuristic design applies because what isn’t clear is what exactly the numbers can represent. The more the user moves on the map, the more the numbers change and even the positions of the numbers.

The All Trails App does not make it easy for the user to use the app while not having to pay; it’s a constant ad pop-up that gets in the way of the actual app usage. The user control and freedom heuristic design error points it out clearly.

The All Trails app sends the user to this desktop page for informing certain errors that the app won’t work with- like certain devices; this applies to the help users recognize, diagnose, and recover from the errors heuristic error .

The desktop page also applies to the help and documentation heuristic because it wasn’t easy finding a solution- it wasn’t helpful.

I didn’t realize what a waypoint was until looking at this app page and looking it up- a possible match between system and the real world? A better understanding would be to say a waypoint is a location to meet at.

PART TWO

User flow

PART THREE

Redesign

All Trails App had issues with their aesthetic and minimalistic design. The more the user moves on the map, the more the numbers change and even the positions of the numbers. Having a specific location locked and labeled as their single area, it makes the overall design minimal and simple/easy to use.

The All Trails App has constant advertising pop-ups that really get in the way of being able to use the app. The user control and freedom error needs to be on a separate page, in the Settings for people who would really love to have the membership and all that applies with it.

The All Trails app sends the user to an out source desktop page for informing certain errors that the app won’t work with- like certain devices. The help link wasn’t easy to find and their solution wasn’t helpful. So, for the two errors the instructions are easily sized, highlighted, bolded, and underlined for easier reading and access and still being able to stay in the app.

I didn’t realize what a waypoint was until looking at this app page and looking it up- a possible match between system and the real world? A better understanding would be to say a waypoint is a location to meet at.

The All Trails app assumes that waypoint is a commonly used word for a meeting location. The app also doesn’t specify which or what is the latitude and the longitude.
