Chocolate & Docker

Synopsis: After reading tons of blog posts and books for several years, I got frustrated about container orchestration, OS level virtualization and container technologies. It was hard for me to find out following 3 questions in plain simple sentences with real life examples:

  1. What are these technologies
  2. How they work and
  3. Why we need those

Most of those internet blog posts and books are using tremendous amount of technical jargon and buzz words to explain the terms and they are interconnected with so many other technologies which actually leads you into Sagittarius A. By the way, “Sagittarius A” is a super massive black whole located in the center of milky way galaxy. This post is mainly for those who really wants to know how these awesome technologies are working & useful in our daily development process.

What is chocolate: Chocolate is a preparation of roasted and ground cacao seeds (cocoa) that is made in the form of a liquid, paste, or in a block, which may also be used as a flavoring ingredient in other foods.

What is docker container: A Docker container is similar like a chocolate which is a lightweight, standalone, executable package of software that includes everything needed to run an application: code, runtime, system tools, system libraries and settings. The…
