There have been a few arrests for honor killings, but the charges are usually reduced or thrown out. And even when they’re not, the courts impose unimaginably lenient sentences on the perpetrators. I believe it’s safe to say that no one in Afghanistan has ever been significantly punished for abusing a woman.
