The biggest Friday night of the year

Yes, I know it’s Thursday. But, today was the last day of the school year. My daughters are in 6th and 9th grade. Strike that, as of today they are in 7th and 10th grade! So, this year was a big one. They both started at new schools — middle school and high school. It was a long year, but it was a good year. They both explored new interests, found new passions. They made us proud with their attitudes, hard work, resilience, and the relationships they built.

So, back to today being the biggest Friday. My wife and I were talking to our girls today after school — talking about the last day of school. How we feel — how we are relieved and relaxed. How it feels so good to have a break from the pattern of the school year. We look forward to this day. It’s a day when a big horizon opens up ahead of us all — days and days and days of open time, unstructured relaxation, time to be together as a family, so many possibilities, no deadlines, no stress — summer vacation. It’s like the feeling you get on a Friday night — with a weekend ahead of you. But this, this is the biggest Friday night of the year!

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?
