Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s continuous beef has intensified with the release of their most recent diss singles, “Family Matters” by Drake and “Meet the Grahams” by Lamar. After Lamar released “6:16 in LA,” the two rappers squared off on Friday night (May 3) with incredibly intimate replies.

Drake’s “Family Matters” addresses Lamar’s recent reference of Drake’s son right away, delving into the intimate. Drake criticizes Lamar’s relationship with his fiancée Whitney Alford in his seven-minute song and even raises the possibility that his creative partner Dave Free fathered one of Lamar’s children. The song also makes mention to a cease and desist letter that Tupac Shakur’s estate delivered to Drake about Drake’s use of artificial intelligence to mimic Tupac’s voice.

Lamar’s “Meet the Grahams” takes aim at Drake’s mother Sandra, father Dennis, and son Adonis in particular as payback. Cutting lyrics by Lamar suggest that Drake has not been a good dad and even allude to the existence of a daughter Drake has never acknowledged.

Rapidly intensifying, this rivalry has drawn in other musicians such Metro Boomin, Rick Ross, and J. Cole. Lamar’s opening barbs on “Like That,” which went for J. Cole and Drake, set the tone. Ever since, it has become a tornado of diss tracks and reactions that has enthralled both industry watchers and fans.

The ongoing conflict highlights the high stakes and ingrained rivalries in the hip-hop scene. The intimate quality of these diss songs has fans excitedly anticipating what these rap giants will do next.
