ENEMIES IN PERSPECTIVE

Am certain that God is working something in your life as you read these writings. Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and Shalom to you precious soul.

Psalms 23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my cup with oil; my cup runneth over.

It’s not unusual to find individuals fretting and having sleepless nights because their enemies. People have been stressed and eventually fallen prey to depression and strange diseases such as hypertension because of enemies. Am certain some of my readers would lose appetite just thinking about their worst enemy. Some may even praying for the death of their enemies. It’s not uncommon; I have been there. Enemies have made themselves a force to reckon with and that is their goal. They like to have their impact felt. That is the reason terrorist groups make public jubilations after an attack. They want their impact to be felt. The most painful thing that a person that has categorized themselves as your enemy could experience is not disease or even death; it is not many of the things one might think of. An enemy would feel terrible if they realized that they their impact was never felt; if they realize that their presence is equal to their absence. All they are yearning for is impact and relevance; that is what they call victory. That is why King Saul preferred to be killed by one on his side than to fall at the hands of the Philistines (1Sam 31:4). He never wanted his enemies to jubilate as having had so much influence over his death.

People have credited their enemies over so many things that are happening in their lives. They have come up with every little excuse for not prospering because of their enemies hence fulfilling the joy of their haters. One time my parents lent a very big chunk of money to a certain man who had promised to pay back in a specified period of time. This gentleman went ahead to make a lot of money but chose not to honour his promise. My parents had envisaged a business plan that would deliver them from poverty using that money. Every year that passed without this gentleman refunding this money built frustration and bitterness in the hearts of my parents. Eventually, my parents begun to accredit their bad financial situation to this man. They kept on telling me how far they would be if that man had honored his promise. Every time I saw this gentleman, I too would develop a bitterness because I observed his prosperity versus my parents’ financial struggles. As I begun to grow in the Lord, I realized how sad it was that my parents had let a man to determine their financial situation. How sad it is that a man could determine for you how far you should go in this life! Have you not read that promotion comes not from the east nor from the west, nor from the south but God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another? (Psalms 75:6–7). How sad it is that you chose to trust the arm of flesh of which the scripture says how sad it is that one would do so! (Jeremiah 17:5). How could that man or woman shutter your marriage dreams? How could that man or woman shutter your ministry dreams? If that is so, it simply implies that your life is so physical that flesh can govern your destiny. A spiritual man is far different.

God has a different attitude towards his enemies; He laughs!

Psalms 2:4 He that sitteth in the heavems shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

God laughs at them because He knows that they are of no consequence to Him. They are of no impact in His sight. Whereas you prefer to run away from your enemies, God prefers to prosper you in their presence. That is why he prepares a table before you in their presence. He magnifies you in their sight. There is no better way to show your enemies that they are of no consequence than to prosper in their presence. It simply implies that their efforts and strains against your life are inconsequential. A man that has understood this will not be worried about being thrown into a den of lions, they can’t touch him; he will not fear being thrown into a fiery furnace, he can’t be scorched. Such a man could have HIV in their body but would live normal like there was nothing. A man of this nature uses the hatred of his enemies as nothing more than motivation to propel him to greater heights.

Allow me testify of a nephew, a young man at university. He discovered he had Hepatitis B and had sentenced himself to death. Following a sermon by my Pastor at the time to go win souls, I gave him a phone call and preached to him the gospel. He gave his life to Christ so easily; it shocked me that I did not have to preach much. He later moved into my house and I kept sharing with him the Word. He became very prayerful. One day he just broke out in jubilation saying that Hepatitis B was no more. I asked him how he knew even without a medical check. He just responded that all the symptoms were completely gone and therefore he knew he had been healed. I rejoiced with him by faith, I had no physical evidence to base on and this went on for over a year. His University also got to learn of this miraculous healing story. One time the University required him to take mandatory tests to prove that he had been healed. He reported to me after the first round of tests that the Hepatitis B virus was still in his body. This result started sending some hard questions to my mind but then, he told me there was another round of tests. A few days later, he told me the results showed that the virus had become dormant and therefore inconsequential. Now this to me is a table in the presence of enemies. The virus is present in your body but can’t hinder your life even a bit. A man of this nature uses the hatred of his enemies as motivation to propel him to greater heights. God loves it when your enemies begin to testify on your behalf.

By this testimony, I knew that I don’t have to pray for the disappearance of my enemies. I just need to prove to them by the Spirit that their presence is equal to their absence. Child of God, you need to learn to prosper in the midst of opposition. No circumstance should ever force you to change your agenda; only God should. The more the Israelites were oppressed by Pharaoh, the more they multiplied. Prosper in spite of your background! Prosper in spite of your economy! Prosper in spite of your neighborhood! Prosper in spite of your haters! Prosper in spite of that virus! Prosper in spite of your problematic boss! Prosper in spite of the wars that surround you! Prosper in spite of the medical condition! Prosper in spite of your physical appearance! Prosper in spite of your salary! Prosper in spite of your haters! Prosper in the face of demonic oppression! Prosper as if they were absent! Prosper like they are inconsequential, like they have no impact whatsoever! Prosper like you are born of God! Those things are indeed of no consequence to a man that knows what it means to be born of God. Prosper and again I say, prosper!

Jesus told us that in this world, we would have many tribulations but he implored us to be cheerful because he had overcome the world (John 16:33). Jesus was simply telling us that all the fires and storms of this life had been denied the power to hinder us, He (Jesus) had made them inconsequential. Therefore Brethren, God and all the great multitude of witnesses in the heavenly places will never buy the excuses that many present as having hindered them. All of heaven will say with one loud voice that “JESUS OVERCAME THE WORLD. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR YOU TO FAIL”

FOR FURTHER REFERENCE: Psalms 37:13, 1 John 5:4–5

LET’S PRAY!

Jesus, I thank you for overcoming the world. I trust your word. I refuse to allow myself to be hindered by what is happening around me. I know that all of life’s challenges are inconsequential to my purpose and destiny. You have denied them the power to hinder me. I win in the face of opposition. I accomplish in the face of challenges. Because I am born of you, I overcome all that is in the world. I will fulfill my purpose and I will reach my destiny. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!

Greetings from Sandie! Always remember that Christ in you is the Hope of Glory!
