Life moves

At a million miles an hour. We are already in July and this year hasn’t slowed down yet. I have a few more posts that I need to finish and publish. However I thought I would just riff for a while.

I was reading today about having systems to structure your day so that you do what you intend. Its like if you want to go to the gym, pack the bag the night before and leave it by the door. Make it easier to do the things that you want to do. Sick of wasting time on Facebook, take the app off your phone or choose a window of opportunity to look, respond and close it. You are not going to miss out. In fact I believe you will get more out of life by not being on every day.

I don’t use standard social media ie Facebook, Twitter, etc., its just not for me. I watch Netflix often, I enjoy some of the content. I spend a lot of time commuting so it is a welcome escape from my day at work. Although I must say I did start watching content in the morning and I don’t believe that is a good thing.

I picked up my kindle yesterday only to find it had run out of battery. I’ll need to charge it up for my trip to Singapore on Friday. I’m looking forward to 2 nights at the Marina Bay Sands and hopefully a Sentosa Island beach party on Friday.

Been listening to a bit of Tom Waits today. He is definitely unique and if I hadn’t been listening to Tom Waits, I wouldn’t have enjoyed the Bob Dylan show I saw at the Tivoli in Brisbane. That was a small club show, I saw Tim Finn walk by and I know that Robert Forster of the Go Between’s was there. One of my favourite Dylan songs now is Things have changed which he opened the show with. “I used to care, but things have changed”. Brilliant.

Ah, music, the soundtrack of our lives. Pick a song you know and think of the time and place it reminds you of. So many songs, so many times of your life.
