Hey there neuro beginners! You’re here reading another post about neuroscience! Today, I’ll be talking about neurological development. The main stages of development occer in ages 1–3, and 11–25. The toddler / ifant brain development is influenced by a child’s relationships, experiences, and environment. The brain makes more than a million neural connections per second during this period of an infant’s development.

The adoloscent’s brain development is a little different. Every adolescent goes through it, although research shows that teens with higher iq’s brains develop a little slower than average iq’s. From about 11–14, the back section of the brain, a.k.a the feelings and reptilian brain, develops. Next, in the ages 15–20, the middle brain, which controls movement, undergoes exponential development. The last part to develop is the prefrontal lobe/cortex, which governs executive functions, such as self-monitoring, self-expression, problem solving, decision making, and good judgement.

Thanks for reading, everybody! Stay tuned for more posts like this one. Later!
