Where do I buy my groceries from in San Francisco?

These are turbulent times. When I leave my house, it’s either because I want to go for a walk, a run, a drive or awkwardly meet my family standing 6 feet away in some relatively public place. It’s weird! Believe me.

Food is the one thing I look forward to every day. It gives me joy, fulfillment, and a venue through which to express my creativity. I often spend an unhealthy number of hours doodling over what to cook for breakfast today, lunch tomorrow and dinner this weekend.

This weekend I plan on making Hainese Chicken Rice, Beef Bourguignon, Salsa Verde Chicken, Lomo Soltado and granola for the week. With Stay at Home in place, it’s really hard to get ingredients I need without leaving the house. I’m fed up with Amazon and Instacart who barely have available delivery times, and a slew of business practices I don’t agree with.

After doing some research (thanks Karina!), I made a list of online stores that not only cater to the varying needs of your ingredients list but also delivers it right to your door in a timely fashion. I hope you find it useful.

Zero Shop — organic grocery store

https://www.zeroshop.co/

A subscription-based, organic, plastic-free general online grocery store that delivers your groceries the next day. I haven’t decided which company I’m going to go with but this is one of the likely contenders since the quality of their products is unbeatable, and they have my sister’s favorite hummus.

Farm Fresh To You — produce box

An organic farm to door service that delivers a box of groceries of your choosing. You can pick and choose what you want in your single priced box, along with some non-produce groceries and they’ll deliver it right to your door.

BelCampo — meat guy

If you’re looking for meat, BelCampo is your guy. Their meat selection looks amazingly good and quite reasonable. I will probably order my next round of meet from them.

Sayweee — Asian ingredients

I cook a lot of Thai, Chinese, and Singaporean food so I’m always looking for Asian ingredients. Sayweee has most of the stuff I need. They are also reasonably priced. This is a keeper! Delivered Asian ingredients is a hard one to find.

Lukes Local — neighborhood grocery store

Lukes is a physical neighborhood store that does same-day delivery. If you want to support a local grocery store and also want your groceries delivered this is your opportunity.

Credit goes to Karina Sengupta for finding these places.
