EduGorilla — Bringing the Beneficiaries of Education Under an Umbrella

The very thought of conception of EduGorilla exactly equaled to serving the society. This was because it was apparent that at least good faith got reflected in the idea. Rohit Manglik, the founder, and CEO of EduGorilla, wanted to nip the confusions, doubts, and ambiguities in the bud. These problems were related to important decisions of students regarding their education and career. That is why he dared to make a beginning in this direction.

How the Idea was Implemented?

Starting an ed-tech venture didn’t amount to his beginning a traditional business in education. It was not possible even. Rohit was a student of technology as he is an NIT Surathkal graduate. Also, he had worked as a technocrat in various world-renowned companies like D E Shaw, Morgan Stanley, and Oracle. He did not ever think of going for any other way to make his contributions in revamping the education system, other than cementing education with technology.

Rohit being deeply bonded with technology and having empathized with the difficulties of the students, therefore, gave birth to EduGorilla in 2016. The aim of EduGorilla was to facilitate the search of students for their various educational needs. These contained finding the right coaching and tuition centers, competent study material, competent educational institutions, and colleges etc. Hence, the birth of EduGorilla, was the harbinger of a turn in the field of education, for better.

How EduGorilla Changed Lives of Students?

From its inception to date, the Ed-Tech start-up has attempted to positively change the lives of millions of students. The mediums of a vast array of services that EduGorilla provides to the students have brought these changes. An interesting aspect of this is that many of these are free of cost. Thus, they signal toward the honorary service being done by the company.

These utilities include an online access to comparisons of more than 57,000 coaching institutes, 74,500 plus the number of study material of 195 entrance exams, a robust profile of 600,000 plus schools, more than 10,000 articles on educational and career guidance for students. And to top it all, free counseling of students aspiring to join a coaching institute of their choice. This all, one hopes, will help students greatly in making an informed choice. This choice they strongly may need to find which coaching to join, which study material to rely on and most importantly, which career to choose from the trending around 200 ones. With these facilitations, the venture hopes to sail through the long voyage that it must cover.

And the Lives of Entrepreneurs?

And it’s not as if only students are going to benefit from this all. The journey of EduGorilla has a few lessons for the entrepreneurs dreaming to start their own start-ups, as well. These lessons range from ideas on the appropriateness of entrepreneurial concepts to acknowledging the importance of generosity in reaching out to one’s customers, to nurturing the essential values needed for making a long run, to many more.

Lesson Number 1

First, talking on the utility of an entrepreneurial idea, Rohit Manglik emphasizes on its simplicity. “What I have discovered is that first, you should only go for a simple idea. It should be about a simple product or service that has not been offered in the market in a client-centric way. You need to fulfill the needs of the clients with an innovative approach. Afterward, you can use the resources earned to focus on revolutionizing other aspects of your industry,” he opines.

Lesson Number 2

On the front of the unfortunate aspect of the failure of an enterprise, Rohit advises accepting failures as part and parcel of life. “In corporates, we can blame our bosses but here you can only blame yourself. No reason would help you if your market research went wrong, your initial assumptions were erroneous. Same can be said if you fail to hire the right people.”

Lesson Number 3

For making the initial run of the venture as smooth as possible, he further opines on looking after one’s customer base. He says, “In the cut-throat competition prevailing around us, it’s difficult to differentiate and build your own brand. So, you’ve to find ways to help your business stand out from the crowd.”

Lesson Number 4

About incorporating values to render longevity to your enterprise is concerned, Rohit preaches on entertaining time-tested values. And these values may range from perseverance, hard and time-saving work (smart work, that is to say) and celebrating even small wins. Besides, believing in the policy of honesty is also another ideal.

And the Lessons to be Learnt

Despite the upward journey of the graph of EduGorilla’s performance, there certainly are some challenges too. And Rohit and his team have not lost the focus of these. Providing vocational training to the youth, collaborating more with various NGOs in the field of education, are some of these. A few programs running short of the deadline is also one such.

Conclusion

Seeing the track record of the start-up, to meet these challenges is not doubtful. It is only a matter of time when it will pass these tests and come out with flying colors. For the meantime falling in between and the much time lying ahead of these challenges, there is a bigger challenge of driving to students’ homes the point of enabling them mentally, to sincerely start thinking and working for their career.
