A miracle had happened.

Two rare cheetahs under captivity had three cubs against all odds. Two of their cubs weren’t ready for the circumstances and the environment this world had provided them with.

Then there was the last cub, Pirouz. His name meant victorious. And victorious he was. He was a rare asiatic cheetah. One of a kind. The last of his kind.

Pirouz lived in Tehran, Iran

Pirouz was a beautiful, curious, little cub who was simultaneously born at the wrong place at the wrong time, and at the right place at the right time.

Pirouz had survived but he needed change. At the same time, the people of his whole country needed change. So the little cub became a reason to fight for. That made him victorious, again.

The little cub didn’t know anything about the natural life. But he quickly gained the attention of the people around him, then his country, and soon the whole world.

Unbeknownst to Pirouz, he had now become the symbol of injustice, survival, and an uprising. He even had a song dedicated to him . The anthem was heard and sang by people around the world.

Pirouz was still a cub and explored as much as he could. He played but there wasn’t much to play with. He survived but there weren’t cheetahs to learn from. He lived but there wasn’t much to live for.

Yet, he was loved. He was cared for, but he needed more than provided. Everyone knew Pirouz’s life had value. The innocent look on his face melted many hearts who knew his life had purpose.

But the cub couldn’t hang on to this world any longer. The ten month old dreamed of running free through the open lands with his siblings. He dreamed of learning how to hunt from his mother. Breathing in clean air. Drinking from streams and climbing trees.

In the early hours of February 28th, 2023, Pirouz closed his eyes one last time and never opened them again. His people grieve for him. They are heartbroken and angered about the unfair, short life Pirouz had. They wish they could’ve done more to help the little cub. But they won’t stop fighting.

Piruoz was a loved, strong, beautiful one of a kind cheetah who is now peacefully running in the open lands alongside his family.

Pirouz is victorious, again.

Pirouz, the victorious cub
