Justin Duelies, 23 year old art history major at a local community college, is a user of a number of Internet forums where he proudly proclaims he is a brony, a fan of My Little Pony. Bronies, combination of lonely and bony, have grown their fandom exponentially since the new series released in 2012.

“No one even asks about it, I just bring it up because I want people to know I’m a grown man who is watching a show intended for little girls. Isn’t that crazy?” Justin enthusiastically explained, arguing that he’s not hurting anyone. Justin added, “And get this, I’m not gay!”
After arriving home from his retail job at Target, Justin says he likes to indulge by organizing his pony toys, re-watching some of the episodes, and pretending to be a pony from the show named Mistress Dimensioin on tumblr.

His mother, who happens to live with him, says it’s all just a phase. But Justin believes he will stick with the fandom, as he has invested a lot of time and money into it, and has recently started writing a new fanfiction series called Marestration.
“The most expensive item I’ve purchased is a $210 custom made pluhee (sic) of my favorite pony, Midnight Cookie.” Justin elaborated, maneuvering around his obvious lisp.
“In high school, I was known for having quirky habits that made me more interesting to others.” Justin explained after we asked his mother about his childhood. “During lunch I would eat a pizza slice upside down to absorb more of the flavor. Everyone thought it was so funny!”
When asked about his dating life, Justin says he has met a few megasisters, female bronies named appropriately after their size, in local my little pony meetups, but “they weren’t true fans like me so it never worked out.”

Justin is now concentrating on nourishing his relationship with his custom made pushie. “We’re getting married next month.”
