Dear Friends,

On behalf of the entire team, me and Henri are very pleased to announce the launch of Dott, with an initial € 20m funding led by EQT Ventures and Naspers Ventures.

Dott’s mission is to support the development of vibrant inner cities in Europe, free of cars and pollution. In order to achieve this, we aim to make short-distance trips both environment-friendly and highly enjoyable by offering dockless vehicles such as bikes, e-bikes, e-scooters and possibly even cargo bikes. This way, we want to make green travel available to city dwellers anytime, anywhere.

Designed for sharing

We build our products to be like no other. Our vehicles are built to last, designed for sharing and top of the line when it comes to safety. Our first line of e-scooters come in 4 playful color combinations to suit the vibrancy of European city life. We’ve made very effort to integrate all the latest safety features: bigger wheels with reliable road grip, a double brake system, a wider deck and speed capping. All parts of our scooters can be repaired, so that we can extend their life cycles as long as possible.

For locals, by locals

So far, the micro-mobility industry has been led by non-European players (ofo, Mobike, Lime, Bird, Uber). We believe that the urban landscape of Europe is a completely different animal, and that there is room for a local player to do a better job at this than others. Hailing from all over Europe (13 countries and counting), the team at Dott understands how the European lifestyle differs from other continents. Our local teams — hired per city — will closely collaborate with municipalities to build custom operating models that will work long-term.

Our values

We pride ourselves on our company values. They are what unites us as a team and they serve as a moral compass in everything that we do.

First of all, we are « environmentally conscious ». We want to leave this world better than we found it by reducing our carbon footprint as much as possible. All our vehicles will receive weekly inspections and repairs, to keep them on the roads as long as possible. We are highly conscious of the impact of our operations on cities and its citizens. That’s why we aim to make our vehicles as safe as possible, and to have our operations integrate seamlessly into existing traffic flows. Instead of relying on the “gig economy” — as many of our competitors do — we will collaborate closely with municipalities to create lasting change. Our teams of dedicated, local professionals will manage our fleet to make sure that our vehicles stay in top-notch condition, so they’re as safe as they can be.

Secondly, we are « transparent ». Both internally (within our team) and externally (to cities and our users), we aim to communicate in full transparency. We share all anonymized trip data with municipalities, so it can be used to optimize city planning. We collaborate with municipalities from day one to find the best solutions to make way for new forms of green mobility.

Thirdly, we « get things done ». We are a start-up. We move fast. We are focused on execution and learn by doing. We iterate quickly to adapt to users and cities. With this high speed and obsession to execute to the highest of our abilities, we aim to deliver a product that is truly unique and enjoyable for all of our users.

Finally, we are a « family ». A pan-European family of 13 different nationalities. We’re together for the good times and for the bad. We stick together when things get rough, in order to stay strong and keep pushing. This solidarity empowers us all.

These company values will continue to drive the business in a way that is beneficial both for our team and for the cities we work with.

A big thanks to the Dott team and all our supporters for all their hard work. We also want to extend a huge thanks to all our investors for the trust they have put in us: Axel Springer Ventures, DN Capital, EQT Ventures, Felix Capital, Naspers Ventures, U Start Club, and our 20 angel investors.[Office2]

Our first pilot launch is planned for early 2019 through our partnership with STATION F in Paris.

We hope that you’ll all become fans of Dott and hope to see you on the road!

Let’s ride,

Maxim
