“Panda, panda, panda..”, wait was that Future? Said everyone ever. It was actually Desiigner.. who?

Desiigner came on to the scene after he was signed by Kanye West and was featured on The Life Of Pablo. This is when Desiigner got his chance to shine; “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 2” is dominated by Desiigner with verses from “Panda”. But after you listen to it, you still thought it was Future.

One problem that Desiigner is facing is that he has made his way into the rap scene during a time where Future is a household name and one of the bigger rappers in the game right now. “Panda” has obviously been a huge hit since it came out, but would the song be better if Future did it? That is what crossed my mind when first hearing the 19-year-old Brooklyn rapper; Desiigner wants to be Future, but Future is Future.. But, after hearing his XXL Freshmen Freestyle.. Now I do not know what to think.. I think Desiigner might be dope..

“Timmy Turner”.. “Timmy Turner”? Yes, the Fairly OddParents character is what Desiigner based this whole a cappella freestyle on and he is now releasing a single named “Timmy Turner”. Everyone thought Desiigner was trash after hearing his overplayed “Panda” and after the freestyle he did for Tim Westwood, but he changed a lot of people’s minds after this a cappella freestyle. It is so simple yet so poetic. This year’s class of 2016 freestyles for XXL were pretty terrible to be honest, but Desiigner’s a cappella freestyle was straight fire flames. Freestyles can be awkward in general and just because a rapper cannot freestyle does not mean that you are a bad rapper, but Desiigner showed something we thought we would never see with his “Timmy Tuner” freestyle.

So it is a real thing. “Timmy Turner” will be a real song coming out soon and if you want a little sneak peek.. I would take a look at this YouTube video which adds beats to the a cappella song. Desiigner has won people over with his new freestyle and I think people are really looking forward to when this drops. Desiigner is not Future, even though he might sound like him sometimes (peep the song “Jet”), Desiigner is Desiigner like Future is Future. It would be cool to see them do a song together and try to tell the difference.. Just kidding, but I think there is going to be a lot riding on this “Timmy Turner” song. People probably thought Desiigner was a one-hit-wonder with “Panda”, but if “Timmy Turner” can become very popular like “Panda”, then I think you can make the argument that Desiigner is dope without receiving immediate backlash.

Desiigner’s XXL freestyle is what could keep him in the rap game for a while, especially if the single becomes a hit. Desiigner is silencing doubters without music in the background; that is dope. Desiigner is becoming dope.
