Getting Started in DeFi: How Jomari Joined Blockchain

Jomari did not discover DeFi through the typical route of diversifying his TradFi portfolio nor with hopes to get rich. Rather, Jomari’s personal passions for individual voting rights on pertinent issues brought him to Ethereum.

After studying Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon, Jomari took a special interest in the participatory nature design and technology have on people. How could individuals vote in a more informed way on issues they truly cared about?

A trail of networking later, Jomari was introduced to probabilistic voting on blockchain technology. So began his interest in Ethereum; quickly, this evolved into an understanding of incentive mechanisms, crypto-economics, and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). Jomari quickly discovered how blockchain technology could empower people on both an individual and global scale.

Surprisingly, many of your favorite DeFi personalities likely stumbled upon the technology motivated by a higher reason. Common reported interests include: abundance is the norm; everyone can make it (WAGMI); worldwide inequality; and transparency in solutions. Many degens enter DeFi truly believing that there is a worldwide improper distribution of resources and a deeper belief that blockchain is the system that will allow for more equity.

If you have an internet connection, you can participate in the DeFi ecosystem. With only that internet connection and your thoughts, you can impact the direction of blockchain technology. Working, investing, and even participating in Web3 forums are all substantial.

Jomari is the Core Strategist at Axial, the first DAO launched by Snowball. Here, Jomari gets to practice his passion for public policy and equal votes through Snowball’s governance. Whether $SNOB token distributions or proposals for launching new DAOs, Snowball and its projects are run by the people for the people.
