One Good Thing About Bitcoin

A group of hackers changing the finance world

There is much press and buzz about Bitcoin right now. But there is one thing that excites me about Bitcoin. Behind the virtual currency is a group of hackers trying to disrupt the financial system and how we exchange value online. It is exciting to think that these hackers will not rest until they make it, whether with Bitcoin or something else. [1]

That’s it. The technical issues related to Bitcoin or its volatility in the market do not excite me. Nor am I excited about Silk Road or the Winklevosses and lots of people making millions with Bitcoin. It excites me that soon money and monetary policies will not be the same. [2]

[1] I recently invested in Bitpagos. It enables merchants online to process payments in whatever currency while they receive Bitcoin. A great tool in economies like the Argentinian or Venezuelan where the local currency is worth less and less. It’s also great for sending remittances, especially in Africa.

[2] To be honest I am a bit mad that I did not buy Bitcoin at $5 dollars. Today is around $160 per bitcoin.
