I love these machines, many people mistakenly herald the Apple Lisa and Mac as the computers that featured the first computer GUI, but if i’m not mistaken, the alto is what kicked off the graphical revolution. As with many technological breakthroughs of that era, its true potential and importance was not recognised (by Xerox) at the time, The title of true ancestor of modern day GUI based computing has to go to the Alto.
