You make your own Happiness, and when you depend on somebody else to do that, it will likely fail. If you can look on the bright side of things, you will likely be happier than if you are constantly on the prowl for the dark side. Hopefully we can all enjoy things in life that contribute to your overall happiness, but seems that some people cannot. Being happy does not mean that you are always smiling, but if you are happy, you will likely smile more readily than someone who wants to dwell in the Dark Forest! Maybe your happiness is due to your DNA. If you come from a family of unhappy people, you may be unhappy too, and even winning the Lottery will not make an unhappy person happy. Unhappiness can be deeply ingrained and difficult if not impossible to root out. I was happy as a child and am happy now as a Senior Adult. Even with ups and downs, I have managed to remain fairly happy all my life. Happiness can be looked at as being between 0 and 100% and most people will not be too far on either end. If you are happy 75% of the time, that is probably pretty good. 25% would not be.

The happier you are will make life seem more enjoyable. I always try to avoid unhappy situations and being Single helps since it is easier to avoid the unhappiness. Happy people will probably be more successful since they usually interface well with their work friends and their social friends. Also it is usually easier in Life if you are happy with what is going on and being able to change the things that make you unhappy.
