Ronald Kister-An Introduction to Information Technology
Information Technology, or IT, is a term that is widely used in business and the field of computing. Ronald Kister has been working as an IT professional for nearly twenty years. While many people have heard the term Information Technology or IT, very few know exactly what the field consists of. In the 1960s and 70s, the term, Information Technology, was a little-known phrase. As offices became “paperless,” the term shifted to a household phrase. It is defined as an industry that uses computers, software programming, networking, and other equipment and processes in order to store, retrieve, process, transmit, and protect information.
The IT field consists of three basic parts, computational data processing, decision support, and business software. Over the years, the definition of Information Technology has evolved and now includes the following areas of responsibility.

Computer systems architecture
As the IT industry evolves to meet the demands of today’s workplace, IT professionals are striving to meet the different challenges that are arising.
