· Bankruptcy: As First Lady, Hillary Clinton helped convince President Bill Clinton to veto legislation that would’ve made it harder for consumers to file for bankruptcy and for mothers to collect child support. When she was elected to the Senate, however, this bill was reintroduced, and she voted in favor of the legislation; while it was amended to ensure that child support could still be collected, the bill still maintained anti-consumer language making it harder to declare bankruptcy. The bill failed, but it was reintroduced in 2005, and while Clinton was unable to attend the vote, she voiced her opposition to the legislation (another flip-flop).
