Certainly the outcome would have been different had you identified yourself as an individual that can aid the situation, i.e. a doctor. Imagine you are at work (I assume you are a doctor by your statements, certainly not from your byline) and a person walks in to say, “I want to help make sure this guy is ok.” A stranger you’ve never met is now in your work area trying to get into your work and appears to be evasive by not answering your questions and continues to insist he’s here to help. Now imagine that for the last several months the news has shown that people aren’t happy with how you do your job and in fact some people have actually killed your colleagues because of that dissatisfaction. Are you all cheddar and daisies that this stranger is interjecting himself and being evasive?
Just like when you call someone on the phone, identify yourself.
