And anyone who lies as much as Trump does, continuously and about everything, when there’s no need to lie, or for personal aggrandizement and in childish, unnecessary tweeting attacks on everyone from Alec Baldwin to the former FBI director, deeply weakens the country and makes it and himself unsustainable. I wanted Bernie, or at least Hillary, but more than anything I feared for our country if this self consumed, narcissistic child lied his way into office, and I still never imagined it would be this disastrous, this humiliating, this divisive on a scale that puts Obama’s alleged “divisiveness” to shame. The President sets the tone in America, for us and the world, and the tone set by Trump is constant confusion, consternation, contradiction, dishonesty, peevishness, petulance, and that it isn’t about us, it’s about Donald Trump and his “greatness,” despite not being able to govern his way out of a wet paper bag.
He knows nothing about history, he’s uninformed and makes up facts, he isn’t curious to learn, about health care or anything else, has no self discipline or ability to keep his eye on the ball, and squanders his time slinging out infantile insults and defending himself on twitter rather than working for the people. He not only cannot get anything done, he’s quickly made America a pariah in the world on many levels, and rather than get out of the way of the Russian investigations and cooperate with them, to get past them, is doing everything imaginable to block them, while everyday more incriminating information comes out. His chumminess with the former KGB killer, Vladmir Putin, and failure to acknowledge Russia has it in for us, interfered in our election, and is trying to destabilize our democracy, is a betrayal that is off the scale of bizarre and suspicion. Putin either owns him, or Trump and Putin have cooked up personal business plans that will make them both ungodly rich, which Putin already is, or both.
But it is the lies that define Donald Trump. He cannot speak without lying, as a pathological liar prefers telling lies over the truth. America is in principle too good to allow a President to lie to us endlessly. The weight of Trump’s lies, and the crimes behind them, will bring his administration crashing down. And I don’t care who replaces him, Republican, Democrat or Independent, as long as he’s replaced.
