Becoming a marketing expert
My 30 day challenge of learning the secrets of online marketing
Hey! My name is Ronen Teva, I’m an Israeli entrepreneur and a digital nomad, currently living in Thailand.
About 3 months ago I launched my new project: Happiness Hunt
I only have one problem with it: no one knows about it.

Being passionate about self improvement, I like to constantly learn new things, and I figured it’s a shame I know very little about marketing.
One thing I do know about marketing: almost all of the marketing experts have a very successful blog. So I decided to challenge myself and publicly share my experience of learning the marketing skills in the next 30 days.
Here’s what I did, day by day:
Day 1
- Created a Twitter account: @HappinessHuntCo
No followers yet, but you got to start somewhere, right? - Posted my website on Reddit under Startups: share your startup March 2015
The comment seems to be buried too deep. I’m not sure if anyone even noticed it, but I’ll try again tomorrow. (If you’re on reddit, please upvote) - Posted my website on Hacker News
This one was super easy, and went surprisingly well. I saw increase in my visitors list right away. (Again, if you’re on hacker news, please upvote)

Day 2
- Started writing this updating blog post here on Medium.
- Added Happiness Hunt to the CrunchBase list.
- Joined RiteTag which suggests the best hashtags for your Tweets.
I scheduled my first Tweet for morning time in the US but it didn’t work. Not sure if it was a bug or a time zone confusion, I’ll try again tomorrow. - Added the last updated date on each page, to improve SEO.

Twitter followers - 2
Facebook likes - 35
Day 3
- First Tweet was posted.
- Submitted the website for review on SpringWise, KillerStartups, WebDev2.0 and StartupTabs.
- Joined Intercom.io which seems like the best way to communicate with users, but is quite expensive so I’ll wait with it for a while.
- Created my first mailing list using MailChimp and embedded a nice form on the front pages.

Twitter followers - 5
Facebook likes - 38
Day 4
Hungover, didn’t do much.
- Submitted the website for review on StartupWizz, AppVita and RateMyStartup.

Day 5
I realized that I must have more content in order to market it properly.
- Created a user profile page, as an incentive for users to add more content.
