If I still worked at Apple I would have burnt the place down to prevent the keyboard from forcing users to look at it. I haven’t seen any onscreen UI yet, but forcing people to look at the keyboard due to the lack of tactile feedback is a non-starter. The only possible way to save this is to have a 1:1 representation on screen and just above the actual keyboard for users to be able to understand where their fingers will press without peering over their hands. Is there a tilt on the small screen? Don’t even get me started about how opening yourself up to sitting positions and eye lines is a mess.
