CHINESE WRITING SYSTEM

The Chinese writing system is one of the most sophisticated in the world. It is separated into three parts: phonetic alphabet, form, and meaning. Today, the writing system that we use is the simplest form. However, there was long history of the development of CWS, and there are many different types of writing style emerged during this period.

The pictures above are the very first writing system found in China. It was a writing style based on the shape of an object. For example, the first word in the image above is “people”, the second and the third one is “grain” and ”pregnancy” This type of writing strongly influence the future development of Chinese characters.

After that, many other types of writing base on shell bone writing appeared, there were more elements added, and it became more delicate. Until Calligraphy pen became popular in China, it was another revolutionary change of Chinese writing style. The popularization of brushing pen made writing records much easier, and soon become a mass culture. More writing style therefore arose.

The development of Chinese writing is from complex to simple. Later, when the shape of the characters was standardized, it became a kind of art culture. Large amounts of classic poetry and literary works therefore emerged.
