That’s not how people work. If the threat of punishment was a sufficient deterrent to crime, then no would commit any crime ever, because prison is usually worse than death, especially for a rapist.

This is emotional, illogical thinking. To lower the rate of rape we have to identify the cause and then treat it, like the OP is saying. When you are broken and emotionally dead inside, you don’t care about capital punishment. You care about hurting others because you have been hurt.

Why do think rape has dropped over 50% since the 60’s? The threat of prison? No, it’s because of the Feminist movement, which proved that women are people and must be respected, and allowed men to understand women and themselves better.
