I live in Detroit and have worked in and around the automobile industry most of my life. You’ll hear the term “skilled trades” in the news because of the UAW. There are two kinds of skilled tradesmen and women. One group has good paying jobs affiliated with a labor union. The other is a group of blue collar folks without college degrees, and every engineer in the shop goes and asks them how to do stuff.
