Cojoined twins are the result of a single fertilized egg not fully split during the process of forming into identical twins. If the division occurs after two weeks it will result in cojoined twins. This occurs once in 60,000 births with 70% are females and most are stillbirths. Some 65% cases were stillbirths, 35% died within 24 hours, and 25% would survive to an age where separation could be performed.
