National Goof Off Day, March 22, 2023

National Goof Off Day is a day to do anything, except what you’re supposed to do. Researchers have found that goofing off is actually good for you as it releases stress and even increases productivity. It is therefore highly recommended for everyone.

Goof Off Day actually started in 1976 when the granddaughter of William D. Chase, while hosting his radio show, disguising her voice called and suggested it to him. Chase and his brother eventually started Charles Calendar of Events. The first calendar was in 1957 consisting of 32 pages, 364 entries, and sold for one dollar. Chase retired in 1987 and sold his company.

Today, Chase’s Calendar of Events has 752 pages and be found on Amazon.

There are several notable March special holidays and events to remember. Some of them are St. Patrick’s Day, March 17; World Poetry Day, March 21; World Oral Health Day, March 20; and National Doctor’s Day, March 30.

So, take break and unplug. Do silly things:

Have a water balloon fight, chase the butterflies, walk a hiking trail, or simply listen to music, read a book, enjoy the day doing NOTHING.

As I get older and older I realize just how much I didn't know. But, since I retired, I have time to research and learn.
